Focus on the journey to greatness!
My name is Patricia Valdivia and it is my pleasure to be the principal here at Bayside, home of the Tsunamis. I am impressed with the incredibly talented staff and dedicated students that walk this beautiful campus.
Bayside lives up to its name. From the beautiful campus, you get a picturesque view of the bay, downtown San Diego and the Coronado bridge.
At Bayside, we provide a nurturing environment in which students are encouraged to push themselves beyond their own limitations and expectations. Our teachers motivate students to think critically and to maximize their own ability to reason and solve problems. We are raising out students to build peace, by teaching them to be respectful, responsible, and safe.
Bayside, staff and students are Peacebuilders. We model and teach giving up put downs, seeking wise people as advisors and friends, noticing hurts caused and make amends. Peacebuilders build peace at home school and in their community each and every day. We continually remind students that we are a team here at Bayside and when one individual at Bayside succeeds, we all succeed.
Every year, we have increased the number of students scoring proficient and advanced in our end of the year assessments. I attribute this to our teaching staff, who meets regularly as a professional learning community in order to analyze data and plan quality instruction. Our teachers are highly professional and they are committed to providing a strong standards based curriculum in which the skills of reading, writing, and numeracy are taught to mastery. Students write every day and in every academic area as they write across the curriculum. Teachers provide interventions or additional instruction for our underperforming students as well as our English Language Learners.
We also have a strong before and after school program that supports our school goals. Students benefit from the many enrichment activities the program has to offer.
Welcome again, to Bayside. Stop on by and say hello. You will find our campus to be warm and welcoming. You will see that we are preparing our students for college.
