A ReDistrict Team has been meeting to plan for movement of students and staff due to the change in boundaries. The following FAQ has been presparened to answer some of your questions.
The Board of Trustees of the South Bay Union School District must reduce its annual budget due to the State of California's budget crisis and continued declining enrollment. The Board and Superintendent take this responsibility seriously and continue to keep student achievement as the highest priority. Proposals to reduce the District budget include changing all school attendance boundaries and restructuring two of our schools. Information regarding all proposal to reduce the school district budget will be provided to staff, parents and community at several key meeting dates and on this website. We understand changes are difficult for our families which is why we are providing as much information as possible as soon as it becomes available. You are welcome to attend any of the following meetings:
- Thursday, January 29, 2009 = Open Forum, any time between 3:30-6:30 p.m. in Burress Auditorium
Receive all information available and meet Board & Administrators
- Thursday, February 5, 2009 = Board Public Hearing @ 6:00 p.m. in Burress Auditorium
Opportunity to speak publicly to Board regarding recommendations
- Tuesday, Februrary 10, 2009 = Board Study Session regarding Budget and Recommendations
- Thursday, February 19, 2009 = Board Meeting - Board to make Restructuring/Boundary Decision
- Thursday, February 26, 2009 = Board Study Session regarding Budget Reduction; Regular Board Meeting
- Thursday, March 5, 2009 = Regular Board Meeting regarding budget reduction decisions; Certificated layoffs
- Thursday, March 12, 2009 = Regular Board Meeting
